Anderson Materials Evaluation (AME) performs analyses for the chemical industry. We analyze the surface and bulk chemical properties of solid inorganic and organic chemicals by XPS surface analysis, wavelength-dispersive XRF, SEM/EDX, FTIR spectroscopy, Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), optical microscopy (Keyence 3D, metallographic, and inspection), UV-VIS spectroscopy (transmission and reflectometry), TGA, DSC, electrochemistry, and contact angle measurements. We provide for the analysis of liquids by FTIR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, TGA, DSC, electrochemistry, density, surface energy, and by the analysis of solid residues after evaporating the liquid component. We provide the quantitative elemental and chemical composition of the outer 10 nm of solid chemical materials such as powders, sol-gels, catalysts, and adhesive or sealant interfaces. Our thermal testing capabilities allow us to identify thermal properties of bulk materials (including melting temperature and phase transitions of chemicals, such as polymers). AME can also help with detection of contamination and impurities through the use of numerous techniques.
Other common analyses include testing of chemicals for water content and the volatiles content of paints, insecticides, plastics, adhesives, and sealants. We identify and weigh residues. AME also determines degradation mechanisms, chemical reaction pathways, and shelf-lives for our clients. We frequently perform independent characterizations of chemical and physical properties to verify materials meet specifications and requirements.
We serve chemical industry customers with applications in a broad range of industries from consumer goods to industrial applications. Among our many chemical industry customers are Monsanto, Henkel, Huntsman, ExxonMobil Chemical and Cristal Global (now Tronox).
