Aerospace

Anderson Materials Evaluation has extensive experience working with the aerospace industry.  Our most common projects for the aerospace industry include adhesive bonding issues, thermal and characterization testing of composites (including thermal expansion, glass transition temperature and composition analysis), polymer degradation, weld cross section analysis, aluminum alloy surface treatments, thermal insulation materials, and materials characterization to ensure materials from suppliers meet specifications.  We also have experience working with avionics, satellite electronics and packaging, thermal battery materials, and high-energy-density silver-zinc and lithium-ion batteries.  Contact us and discuss these, or other materials problems and development issues you may have.

Our work in Aerospace ranges from commercial and military aircraft manufacturers, maintenance organizations, parts and component makers, and customers.  GE, Pratt & Whitney, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Raytheon, Cessna, United Technologies, The Gill Corporation – Maryland, MRA Systems, Advanced Thermal Batteries are among our aerospace customers. Defense

Anderson Materials has deep roots in the defense industry.  Our founder Dr. Charles Anderson worked 10 years for the Navy at the White Oak Naval Surface Warfare Center and 6 years for Lockheed Martin Laboratories – Baltimore solving materials problems before starting AME. Dr. Lorrie Krebs worked as an Army Research Laboratory Fellow.  We have done work with many applications in defense including weapons systems corrosion, high-energy-density batteries, infrared sensors, rocket motors, energetic materials, and avionics electronics.  Common materials examined include metal alloys, protective and optical coatings, heat-producing intermetallic materials, composites, semiconductors, optical glasses, and pyrotechnic materials; common analyses of materials for defense applications include corrosion and degradation analysis, materials characterization, and failure analysis. We are happy to talk to you about other materials problems or development issues you may have, applying our experience in the defense industry and in many commercial applications.

We have worked with Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, Aerojet and the US Army, Navy and Air Force among others in the defense industry.  See additional clients below.
