XPS Spectrum of Silicone on Acrylic Adhesive Si at 14.95 at.%

XPS Spectrum of Silicone on Acrylic Adhesive Si at 14.95 at.%

XPS surface analysis spectrum of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) transferred to Si-free acrylic adhesive from a large contaminated surface. The Si concentration is 14.95 atomic percent, so the Si, C, and O in PDMS is 59.8 at.%.

XPS surface analysis spectrum of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) transferred to Si-free acrylic adhesive from a large contaminated surface. The Si concentration is 14.95 atomic percent, so the Si, C, and O in PDMS is 59.8 at.%. Since adhesive bonds suffer major strength loss at 3 at.% Si in the form of PDMS as measured by XPS, this is a huge degree of contamination in the outer 10 nm of the surface.
